The Real Reason The Bachelor’s Madison Prewett and Selena Gomez Are Friends

Madison Prewett and Peter Weber fell in love on his season of The Bachelor. From the beginning, Prewett caught Weber’s eye. But their relationship took a turn for the dramatic with the Auburn native gave the pilot an ultimatum. She told him if he slept with any of his other contestants, she’d have a hard time moving forward with the show.

Bachelor Nation slowly learned that religion played a big role in Prewett’s life. When Weber met Prewett’s family, he learned just how important it was to her and her family that she ends up with a “faith leader.”

Ultimately, Prewett and Weber decided they didn’t have enough in common to pursue a relationship. In addition to their different levels of faith, they were just too different.

What Madison Prewett and Selena Gomez’s friendship is based in
After Weber’s season ended, Prewett sparked a perhaps not-so-unlikely friendship with actress/singer Selena Gomez. The two were seen picking out board games together shortly after The Bachelor finished airing.

Prewett told Us Weekly that faith is the foundation of their friendship.

“[Faith] is something that is just a really big part of our friendship,” she said on June 15. “I’m very selective with who I allow to really, like, get really, really close to me. And with those that I really invite into that space, it’s really important to me that we’re pushing each other and encouraging each other in our faith, and just being there for each other on the good days, the bad days and encouraging and praying for each other along the way.”

Gomez has been open about the role religion plays in her life for years.

“I’m literally just laying down and thanking Jesus,” she tweeted in 2019. “He always surprises me and I re-fall in love with Him every single time. In my worst moments, like awful, most painful moments — I never stopped falling to my knees wanting and needing only His love.”

Madison Prewett says ‘faith’ makes or breaks whether she dates someone

Prewett doesn’t just like to surround herself with religious friends, she also likes to date men of a similar mindset.

“I would say my No. 1 thing, obviously, would be faith for me,” she told Us Weekly of what she looks for in a partner. “That’s going to be something that’s a make or break.”

“I know we’ve talked a lot about, you know, growing our faith, but it’s really important to me in all areas of my life to continue to grow,” Prewett continued. “So I want to be with someone that is pushing me to be the best that I can be and challenging me to grow and to be the best version of myself.”
